Why I am happy with Summit- cheap drop components
I know this has been touched on before by me and others, but I just wanted to remind everyone that 73-87 front springs fit our old trucks.
I got my order in today from Summit. This is what you get when you order their house brand generic white box springs. They cost 70 bucks like you see here. Generic white box Part number Yep, they are name brand stuff in plain boxes

I ordered a set of those too. They show to be delivered tomorrow. In years past, I have ordered them and they are Doetsch Tech brand. Good stuff. I will report when I get mine.

3 inch drop springs. I'm putting them under my 63 project. Been working 12 hours a day in the shop. Some of it even on my own stuff.

Thanks for the heads up...what drop did you go with and how did you figure up which shocks to go with? Part numbers on the shocks would be awesome...Thanks!

Re: Why I am happy with Summit- cheap drop components
I am working on it very hard. I have it to the bare frame, 175 dollars worth of POR15 stuff sitting on the garage floor for the frame. I have a whole room of my shop full of powdercoated parts for it, ready to put back on.
I'm building the front suspension right now. Everything will be PORd or powdercoated, Energy Suspension bushings, new ball joints, everything. Lots of cleaning and scraping to get the suspension parts ready to refinish. It sucks, but has to be done. My least favorite part of a build. I just went through Summits online parts system. I believe the part number for the front shocks was SUM-G7727 . The application is front shock lowered up to 3 inches. Of course, that means lowered via springs, spindles don't affect shock length, so these springs would be good for 5.5 total drop in front if you added spindles and the springs both.

Re: Why I am happy with Summit- cheap drop components
Summit adjustable proportion valve turned out to be Wilwood. =) Have great luck with their cam and lifter kits. Specs seemed to be the same as Crane. Anyone know who makes them for Summit?
PS. used to live 40 min from Akron store. In early 80s they where in an industrial business center and they kept expanding sideways as other stores fronts became vacant. There store in Akron is now like the biggest coolest candy store a kid could imagine. |
