Re: static drop ???

Static drop just means that it's not a variable drop such as you get with airbags or hydraulics. A static drop is usually achieved by using drop springs, shackles, and spindles. There are several different combinations you can use to achieve your preferred drop.

Re: static drop ???

nsuengineer06... said it about right.

A static drop would consist of the suspension parts that are essentially on the truck from the factory, just shorter. The parts used on this type of drop may include any combination of the following:

Spindles (Drop/Stock) - if the truck is factory drums up front and you use drop spindles you must convert to front disc
Springs (Drop/Stock) Front/Rear
Shock Relocators (for certain inch drops)
Adjustable Panhard Bar
Drop Shocks
Modified a-arms (tubular/dropped/sectioned arms)

Pros include cheaper that air ride; Cons include the inability adjust for certain terrain (speed bumps)

Any other type of drop will consist of air or hydraulics, however hydraulics are IMO on their way out as a bag setup is much easier and cheaper to install. A bag setup will consist of any of the items listed above (aside from springs) but also needs the following:

Bags
Air management (can be done by a stand alone manual fill system as well)

Pros include the inability adjust for certain terrain (speed bumps); Cons include the price (possibly...), and a little more know how to install
