small brake booster
Small brake booster...
 like this one being hawked by GMCPauls--Is there any loss in performance over the bigger booster? If no, then why do/did they make the larger one?? Is this a 100% bolt-on? Do I have to steal any parts of my existing booster? Like the push rod or??? I may need a brake booster after all, and if I'm replacing, I'd sure like to go with as small as possible. Anyone used this one?? Kenneth

The large booster is cheaper for OEM to make. The small boosters are usually dual diaphragm. This keeps the overall diamphragm surface area the same but reduces the case diameter, but increases its thickness.

The big ones in the 3/4 and one ton trucks were dual diaphragm too.

I just installed a smaller booster, along with a new proportioning valve and master cylinder. I deleted the linkage from the stock booster. The new rod goes straight from the brake pedal to the booster. As soon as I can bleed the brake system, I can let you know how it works. Been working too many hours to work on the truck and with gas at $2.15 for the cheap stuff, I won't be driving the truck much.

The shop I purchased my booster from, fabricated some brackets for the smaller booster. It is now closer to the firewall. Since I plan on installing a big block, I need the room.

hey Spinning wheel, I'm interested in your M/C booster set-up and weather it works or not, cause I need to change out mine too. Anyway since I'm just down the road from you it would be easy for me to pop over and have a look. let me know.

small booster
that small booster works good for hi-pro deals like mine bb needing to pull off valve covers and such also had to buy a vacuum pump from mpbrakeshttp://www.mpbrakes.com/index.htm
check that out for vac.pump if you need one ......mp sells that small boosterfor about $400.00 i bought mine from some little place in penn.for only $225.00 they have no web site...so shop around....if you really e want to know where i got mine..send me a P.M. and i will look for the ticket from there.....on my truck i just ground off the stock rivits on the old booster and it fit right on the new smaller booster....the rod i cut off the stock booster ...drilled and tapped it out and screwed it right on the new booster  now thats a tall block with tall valve covers and still have 21/2" of clearence......mark
