Thanks Scott, I think i'm getting better.

Laid out the fine line tape for the top color.



Got it bagged and ready for paint. I wanted to paint it tonight, but I'm afraid the air compressor would disturb the neighbors. So hopefully I can get it painted in the a.m.. The best time to paint if you don't have a booth is in the a.m.. The wind is calm and the bugs are gone.

I'm always excited when color goes on. And yes that is the plan for the side trim.

Yeah, I got busy. I can finally rest for a while, at least until the paint dries.

Things don't always go easy for me. Sometimes you spray and not have any problems. Well today was not one of those days.

First mist coat of grey



Then a fish eye popped up.



Fish eye is gone.



Removing fine line



Ready for clear



Then the big issues. I ran the heck out of it. It was hard to get a good coat in this area. I finished spraying and ran it pretty much all the way across. The only thing I could do was run it in the floor. So I hammered some on until I flowed the run on the paper.



I was afraid to run this one any further cause I would have too chase it all the way down. I believe I can sand this one out. It's the same way on both sides.

Ouch man that sucks, at least its fixable.. most of the time that is the best thing to do is make it run even more and add a ton of material and color sand it right out. I cant wait to see it all put together

correct me if I'm wrong...but the run is in the clear, so no sanding in the metallic paint..

Yeah Joe your right it is in the clear so you can just take like 1500 grit and water and sand over the run to blend it in. Just take your time and dont go through the clear to the paint... that sucks

Scott, do you ever wipe a thin coat of putty (I use evercoat 416) over the run then sand the run out? It helps me from going thru the adjacent clear around the run. It works well. It also serves as a guide of how much further you have too sand. It doesn't harm the clear, or hasn't with me yet. I've tried it a few times after our painter showed me the trick. When I do it I will take pics of the process.

Yeah come to Texas Alan, after you do jgh64pkup you can drive southeast to my house about 2 hours and do my truck as well.

You know, if I was wealthy and no family I would load up a trailer with everything I need to do restorations and travel around the US helping out my fellow board members. That would be cool.

No man i havent, thats a good idea though ill have to try it! i try and not get any runs but we all know chit happens

I'll find out tonight. I generally have good results. I'm kind of worried that metalics are piled up right there in the run. The bad thing is they are in a very noticeable spot.
