coilovers for a 68 swb
I was intrested in making my ride a little stiffer by keeping the rear springs and using coilovershocks instead of just shocks and using front coilovers too because the front end slaps the ground when we go over bumps i have a 4inch drop in the front and 5 inch drop in the rear. has anybody done this before and does anyone know where to find some with a reasonable price?

that's a real good way to rip off the shock mounts.

But im not trying to get rid of my trailing arm and replace it with just coilovers
im going to keep my springs and trailing arm and put a coilover with it and also on the front im going to keep my spring and add to it with a coilover |

What I think LHM is trying to convey is that the shock mounts are not strong enough to take the punishment, even using the existing springs.
Also with a drop that mild you should not be bottoming out, unless it's all spring? The rear may be hitting the rear bumpstops, but could probably be made better by using adjustable bumpstops or just trimming the existing ones.I'm not too sure about the front if it's all spring you are probably gonna have to do something different.Maybe spindles.

Re: coilovers for a 68 swb
shock absorbers with helper springs aren't coilovers

Re: coilovers for a 68 swb
sounds like your springs are weak or you need a higher spring rate. then tune the ride with a good set of adjustable shocks.

Re: coilovers for a 68 swb
the rear end is fine when it comes to not bottoming out its the front that is causing all the problems i was thinking that the coilover would just add some more support to the shock and pring combo but would it be possible to reinforce the mounts so that they could stand abuse or should i just look for some stiffer springs if so could anyone give me a lead to a place to find them and the right rates.
