does anyone know where i can get a power brake booster rod for my 71?

I converted to power brakes about 2 years ago. A few weeks ago i noticed that the brakes were dragging a little bit. I had made an adjustable brake push rod so I adjusted it out and it was better. Yesterday when I drove it, it was pretty hot out and after about 30 mins the brakes felt like they were applied and I could smell brakes. So my question is, is there any thing you guys can think of to fix this issue. The booster is a stock set but not sure what year its from. any ideas would be great. thanks

I can't provide an answer to your specifc dilemma.

My experience w/my 68 that I swapped later model discs was that I used part of the original brake rod @ the top of the rod (near the dash) & welded that to the bottom half of the donor vehicles rod (where it connects to the Z pivot). I set the length so there was threaded adjustment either way w/no pressure on either end & never had any problems (half of a Power Tour one year & multiple trips to the Hoston area from DFW Tx).

This will give you a bump & maybe someone else will have an answer shortly.....

If the brakes are dragging I would suspect something other then the brake booster rod. Check the booster to master cylinder rod clearance. if only one end is dragging check the brake hoses to make sure they are not plugged.

If the brakes are not releasing and everything adjusted correctly, suspect the rubber hoses going to the brakes from the frame. two in the front and one in the rear above the drive axle. They swell from the inside and won't let the fluid return properly. In some cases it just stops returning and locks up your brakes.

Can't tell from looking at them. To test, raise the wheels, apply the brakes with engine running and check to see if the brakes released.
