electrical gremlens..help!

ok...just noticed that after i installed my am/fm radio that my exterior lights and dash panel lights up when i apply the brakes..and when i turn the left blinker on both front and rear lights flash.. as if my flashers were on. at night when i turn on the lights the tail lights are bright...like brake lights are on all the time..now it could of been like this before i installed the radio. im not sure? i checked all brake light bulbs and front parking bulbs..all ok. i unpluged the radio..no change.i did just get it back from a transmission rebuild... anyone ever run into this problem? h e l p !

Re: electrical gremlens..help!

Check to make sure you didn't bump the brake light switch while you were wiring the new radio. Also check to see if the plug on the headlight switch is fully seated. Those are the first two things that come to mind and you may have already checked them.

Re: electrical gremlens..help!

Re: electrical gremlens..help!

I would unhook the radio and see if it still does it or not then you would know if that is the problem.

Re: electrical gremlens..help!

Sounds to me like the hazard button is pushed in and either the hazard flasher is bad or not there.

Clock springs are in vehicles with air bag in steering wheel it contains the wires so they will turn with steering wheel. they were not used in GM trucks till 1995

If wires are melted in small area you can cut out burnt section and splice in new wire. this is your rear light harness and is all color coded so just go brown to brown, yellow to yellow, dark green to dark green, light green to light green. pretty simple repair if rest of harness is in good condition.
