I haven't done it, but I've seen kits. I was thinking of a variation on the flamethrower. I was thinking you could mount a injector before the spark plug and use propane! Hopefully it wouldn't explode!

I talked to my dad about the propane thing the other day, seeing how he has been in the propane business for 36 years now. He told me it would work with propane and you would get a bright white to blue flame from it. Just because propane burns at such a different temperature that gasoline. I am still thinking of the flame throwing kit for Project Flatbed. All you need is a 2 button box, 2 coils, and a couple spark plugs.......i think

my friends dad has a 60 something pink cadillac with flames, it doesnt go though the engine though, like regular kits, he has a seperate switch that squirts gas out a nozzle in the tip of his exhaust. it throws fire at least ten feet and it throws it onto the ground, ground burns, pretty cool

I just wonder how safe this is. My gas tank is in the back. What if the system has a leak? or the flame back feed into the system?

i have always wanted this, and now that i have a welder it would take me a couple hours to do the exhaust work i have turndowns after cab though, so i would have to route pipe out the back or sides. how dangerous is this with a fuel cell? does the exhast sysem haveto be fully welded or can it be clamped in some places? it would be so friggin cool to have this at school. about how long does it take to do this install?

well guys i saw the thing on Trucks on TNN. the flame only is in the tailpipe and doesnt go through the whole pipe. there are some kits that use propane and are really dangerous. so it isnt that dangerous except for the dumb 17 yr old rice burner tailgating you. so why dont we just show him who to litterally have a rice "burner" :-D

i dont get it, it says on GOTFLAMES.COM that the kit is 80 somehint, and then plugs, wires, and coil, but then it says in the directions below that it will cost about 500 for everything. whats up with that?
i'm thinking of just making a bolt on exhaust extension that exits under my steps that i can take on and off if i end up ordering this.

i'm seriously thinking about this now, i have enough extra pipe to makle a bolt up piece that exits under my steps, and clamps on. all i would have to do is put a quick conncet on the wires and i could take it off whenever i wanted. hmmmmm

This can be done really easy....drill and tap exhaust about 6" from the back of tailpipe...(might be for).soo you can put a spark plug in it. run spark plug wire to extra coil mounted and Grounded on framerail......run 12 guage wire to switch in cab, run 12 guage wire to batt +...
start car, flip switch, adjust choke to run a little rich......wooosh flame on......works best with manual choke, or if you know your going to do it adjust carb to run rich...hit the button when you want flame (this was can be a little hard to get started as depending on how rich your running the plug can foul out. stock coil out of junkyard, $10 hole drilled and tapped by friend (who happened to have the @!#$% tools).......6pack single pull, single throw two pole toggle switch from Radio Shack..Less than a buck exta wire laying around garage from last project ......Free The look on the punk ass kid who drags his hands all over your fresh detail job as his pants catch on fire....priceless... For the really important things in life there is "Ludwigs Insanity" (widely accepted at most Mental Hospitals world wide) for everything else....cash....

what exactly does the switch do? cuts off power to the coil? why do you need another coil?

As if I didn't have enough going on, now I have something else to add to my list. Let's see... fertilize lawn, paint garage, give dog a bath, make fire shoot 15 feet out the back of the truck...

umm....black box..don't know, extra coil is needed because you don't exactly have an exta spot on the one for you engine.....unless of course you are a master of the "dope smoken old man" technique of making and installing a extra spot on your distibutor......
the switch is so that you can control WHEN flame shoots out the back end....after all you don't want them to light up EVERY time your engine runs a little rich.... Don't light the cop up....just his car....make sure you do it when he is at your window-and make a farting noise with your mouth when you do it.....don't forget to say "excuse me"

Ludwig, are you talking about building a kit that jsut lights the exhaust or the kit that cuts off power to the exhistin coil so the gas cycles through your engine and then lights?

ludwig your theory is ok,....... but the one that I seen that works best is , hang a midget underneath in a cage with a bic lighter, and two tiger torches
