poor acceleration
I am a new member, so sorry if this has been answered already. I just got a 72 C-10 short steper. It has a 350 with comp hooker headers and a Eldebrock 1406 carb, it also has Weber stamped on the right side. Other then that it is stock. The problem I am having, when I step on it, it hesitates and I can hear a pop coming from the front, not really a back fire. Is there a simple adjustment I can make to the carb to fix this. I have changed the inline filter right before the carb, is there an other carb closer to the tank that I can change as well.
Thanks for the help. Josh. |

Re: poor acceleration
definatly start with tuning the carb and checking you ignition timing.
how are your plugs? wires? also the pickup screen in the tank could be all gummed up, maybe the sender.. i would start with the carb tho and changle all the fuel filters.

Re: poor acceleration
There is also a fuel filter(unless it has been removed) in the carb behind the fitting where the fuel line goes in.It may be clogged or partially clogged.

Re: poor acceleration
meant to ask if there is a second filter closer to the tank, not a carb.

Re: poor acceleration
Originally these trucks came with one fuel filter and that was in the carb, but over the years owners have added a second and maybe third one.
Normally if one is added it is between the pump and carb, but if the tank is expected to be dirty another one may be added between the tank and the pump. Also start at the tank and check all the rubber hoses for cracking or kinking. Danny
