My first C-10

I thought I found my dream truck, it had everything but a bench seat that I wanted. Had the truck inspected today and came up with a list of issues. Some were no big deal others were bigger problems. Im in NJ the truck is in the Carolina's and I am going off a shops inspection of the truck. The truck is a 70 short bed with a stroked 454 with practically new drive train. Why the hell cant I find a good truck???? My budget keeps going up and I still cant find anything to make me happy. I am going to list some of the issues found with the truck, I need your guys help to deside if its worth the purchase.

Issues
1. Bubblins in clear coat
2. Transmission pan leak
3. power steering pump leak
4. shifting selector seal leak
5. dents in roof
6. left header is rubbing control arm
7. Tie rods are loose
8. Brake pedal fades to floor
9. cab mounts have a little rust
10. front fender has rust

Please help me find a good truck or help make a wise decision.

Re: My first C-10

I'd be a little hesitant on that one. Sure they're not big issues but, I think there's hidden issues there. JMI, from what is known. Sounds dressed up to me.

Find a south or west coast hookup. When I sold my 99 Grand Cherokee on Ebay a few years ago, I think the guy paid 5-800 to have it hauled to Missouri.

He bought it sight-unseen, the only contact I had with him was the money orders he sent me in the mail. The truck driver came to my house, did a quick inspection for any minor damage, loaded it... and off it went.

Re: My first C-10

I'd keep looking, sounds like the truck for 11,000 might be a pig in a poke, especially sight-unseen. If you're patient something better will come along.

Re: My first C-10

CL and word of mouth. I just picked up a 1971 SWB 454 that was an older restomod for $1200 off CL with half of the issues you described. Yea my drivetran is not new, but the truck runs and drives. When you stop looking or you buy one two more will fall in your lap.

$11000 is too much for a truck with any major issues.

Re: My first C-10

You will find one sooner or later it is just really hard because of all the fly-by people that just put make up on these trucks lower them wheels and tires and it all of the sudden becomes a full restoration in their minds. I know the frustration as I have gone thru it many times. The main reason why I built mine not bought it. I am in the market for a 67 SWB small window but I dont want a project I want something equivalent to my 71 and so far nothing and the same thing trying to find a belly button camaro just a bunch of buckets of **** so far. I have wasted alot of time, gas, emails and phone calls and still have not found something worth even half the asking price..

Patience is the key. Haste makes waste. Seek and you will find. I agree with the previous posters. $11k can get you a really nice truck.

Sorry guy,but this is looking too much like a "Want To Buy" to me,which is against board rules for non-subscribing members.
You`ve been refered to our classifieds. You are on your own beyond that.Only you know exactly what you want anyway.
Feel free to ask for good resources and tips on what to look for when checking a truck out.The more you read and learn here, the better you will be able to find a good truck on your own.
