my new find?

Well today while going through the craigslist I found something that made me happy but I guess i need to start the story from the beginning. I am 19 years old and have wanted one of these trucks since i was nine and when I graduated from high school last year I bought me one. It was a 71 swb. Well i fixed it up to my likeings and then I messed around and traded it off for 55 belair like an idiot and about a day after doing it II felt retarded. Long story short I sold the belair and began looking for a swb tuck. I ended up getting a 69 short stepper for free for doing some ranch road work for an elderly woman but it had 6 lug drums all the way around and a rusted cab but the front clip and step bed are good. Well today on c list Ifound me a rust free cab sitting on a swb 72 rolling chasis with disc brakes, including all brake parts, and also the power steering pump. I also have 71 gmc high siera 3/4 ton sitting behind my granfathers house that has a 402 big block with all the ac stuff minus the compressor. So my thinking is to use the 72 frame and cab along with the bed off the 69 and the front clip wich so happened to have a 72 grille in it, with the 402bb and ac stuffed between the fenders. i know this is going to take some work and muscle but i have all of these parts with only spending 200 to get them, but god know what it will be before its over. Tha leaves me now to decide what kind of tranny to go with. I was thinking 700r4? What do yall think about that> Sorry for typing the book lol.

"What tranny should I use?"

Depends on the rear gear you're going to run. A 3.08 works great with a th400 and a BBC. If you go with 3.73s, 700R4 would be nice, but you'll want to make sure it's built to handle the BB. Cool project by the way. Sounds like you're doing something similar to what I'm doing with a 68 BB truck that I found...
