so i was taking my guage cluster off and i can get everything loose and off except for the headlights knob.....how does it come off??

If I remember correctly, there is a tiny screw in the black knob, kinda round the side of it, should be a flathead. Take that screw out and the knob will come off. Under that there is a chrome piece that unscrews and a nut underneath that you'll take off, then it should come right out.

Hey, I think I told you wrong...one other thing to try, feel up on the back of the switch, there may be a button or something on top of it. Push down on that and the knob and rod will come pulling out. I think I was thinking of the wiper switch.

Maddog1331 is correct, the wiper knob is held in place with a small screw, but the headlight knob and shaft come out in one piece by pushing in a small button on the switch behind the dash and pulling on the knob. To reinsert it, just push it in the switch and it will snap into place.

Correct but usually requires alot of jiggling as they bind up from corrosion. Play with it being a little forceful if it's stuck.

Be prepared to monkey with that for a while, and at the same time getting a sore thumb from pushing in that little button!

I hate having to take mine apart just for that reason... Though there have been times it just comes right out, but more so of the time it takes a while and some swear words.
