tips for taking a bed apart..
i plan on using my original sides off my 72.. and using the floor out of the 68 bed i got.. my floor is dented/rusted bad crossmembers and this one is excellent so i thought id swap floors.. i heard just to bust the nuts by tightening them.. then does it just come apart no cutting?

You will have to make a cut on each rear corner by the tailgate.
And yes, just tighten the bolts till they snap off. However, make sure it is bolts that can be replaced and not the ones going into the boxside from the wheelwell. Just thought i would mention that part.

Not sure which part you are not following so, Real close to where the tailgate pivots, inside the box there is a weld on each side. Back corner of the floor to the bedside. Should be easy to see.
As far as breaking bolts, don't tighten the bolts up in the wheel well that attach to the bedside. You will need to reuse those holes again. There are also some underneath the taillights you should try to save. Hope this helps you.

just took mine apart yesterday it is too bad most all mine come right loose the welds are where the rear crossmember goes into the bedside at the tailgate mount. I took pics of mine to show you where toomuchstuff is talking about hope this helps you out
