need help with 5.3 fuel system
i currently have an rci 16 gal fuel cell mounted between the frame rails and im going to do a 5.3 swap. seeing as money is tight right now and cannot afford a nice fuelcellguy tank, can i use a walbro 255 inline pump for now? if so im going to summit racing tomorrow and will pick one up(that place is awsome). what else do i need if anything. a friend told me these motors have a fuel reg allready. i will post some pics this weekend as soon as i get back home. thanks

Re: need help with 5.3 fuel system
i used a pump from jegs or summit, cost 89.00 i think, only one i could fine reasonable, had to buy sending unit that had return line, you got to have45-60lbs pressure to open injectors, once open you don't need but7 or 8 lbs to run, that where return comes in,if need more call me 304 385 4478 i will try to help

Re: need help with 5.3 fuel system
yes you can. That is what I use in my 72 with a 5.3. Works fine. I have a filter
before the pump and after the pump. |

Re: need help with 5.3 fuel system
you'll need a constant (atleast) 45lbs of pressure......if its gets below 30lbs of pressure, you'll be able to idle and thats about it.....anything less then 45 you're gonna run into a lean condition...

Re: need help with 5.3 fuel system
i think the ls motors run on around 60 psi of pressure...i ran a part#e2000 pump from local autoparts, its a pump used on a ford, inline and i used the ls6 filter it has a return line built in ...comes on new vettes. i only had to run one main line and a short return ...works great..plus if the pump goes bad and can go get one at almost any part store...just my 2 cents

Re: need help with 5.3 fuel system
I would recommend going with an aftermarket regulator. Will make future tuning and mods much easier. You want to start with about 49-50psi. Then if needed, you can turn up the pressure and re-tune, rather than change injector size, within reason of course.
