Lower door options
Unfortunately my painter was unwilling to patch the existing speaker holes in my doors. I "hate" the holes....especially since I do not have speakers in them. What I am looking for is opinions/options/suggestions as to how to best handle them. I don't have a finished pic of the door with me at work so I am including a couple to give you an idea. I have thought about carpet, but there isn't really a color match for my truck. Someone else suggested getting more of the blue material from my seat and custom make a cover.
Also, pics of finished idea would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

You could cut out some stainless steel sheet metal and have your painter airbrush the
 onto them. Then, just screw the plates onto the doors. Just paint the bowtie the same shade of blue as your interior. That would really set it off.

You could always make some type of cover out of fiberglass or some type of composite. Use x-mas trees to hold them on.

We could always fabricate you one if you draw up what you wanted. |

get a piece of masonite, cut it to match the contour of the lower door, cover it with black carpet...black matches anything.

Thanks guys! I might take you up on the custom piece. My concern with black carpet is I am already dealing with the blue & white....I am afraid to add a third color.

I don't think black would look to bad, since your carpet appears to be black from the picture. If not black, why not white?

hate me if you want... I'd cut the rear holes bigger and pop some 6X9s in there, and small speakers in the front holes.

No hating here. To be honest...i'd actually never thought of that idea. I was so hell bent on not wanting the holes at all. Funny thing is, my wife said, "oh just put speakers in them....who cares"....btw, she wants me to get rid of the truck to buy a 66' Nova...

I like the way she thinks... with the exception of the getting rid of it part.
If she had said in addition to... instead of getting rid of... then she'd be a total 100% KEEPER. (any sisters?) I'm messin. With the dash pad and carpet being black, i think I would just install the black carpet pieces... and if you install the speakers from the inside of the door, then the carpet won't bulge over the speakers. It's a win win win. |

She is a keeper anyway. I just too her and the truck to the show in Pismo. She loved it and we already signed up for next year.
I am not even close to being ready to get rid of the truck. Just got it back on the road. I think your last suggestion makes the most sense...speakers inside the door and black carpet over... Thanks! |

Looks good. I think that was a good solution. These are not concours restored vehicles. They are supposed to be used and enjoyed. I see nothing wrong with speaker holes if they are being used for speakers.
