Re: 71 hi hump 4x4 tunnel cover

Question put a 1970 1/2 ton GMC automatic two wheel drive cab on a 72 Chevrolet 1/2 short bed 4 wheel drive frame originaly had a 4 speed sm465 transmission and 205 Transfer case. Put a GM turbo 350 transmission in the 4 wheel drive and changed the input gear in the transfer case The flat two wheel drive floor is nice but I have to crawl under the truck to shift into 4 wheel drive. Is it best to get a high hump transmission tunnel? Not sure why I don't have clearence problems or if they do that for the transmission heat.
I haven't cut the floor of the two wheel drive cab yet and wondering what is the best transmission tunnel to put in or just cut a hole for the transfer case shifter?
Thanks Br. Both trucks have GM 350 motors

Re: 71 hi hump 4x4 tunnel cover

i believe this hi hump is for a auto. cant remember to be honest. mainly it make the trans-front of t-case more accessable to work in this area and gives room for t-case shifter components. dont cut your floor until you have a cover to mark/go by.
