me too thanks for the info. But isn't the frame the same from 63-87 except for the frame horns on 63-66 are diffrent. And the body mounts are diffrent from the years. Just needing to be informed some more!

The 63-72 frame-rails are pretty close to the same. The main differences, as you have stated are the front horns, and the body mounts. However, the 73-87 frame-rails are not the same. The main difference being the frame-rail height (of course, body mounts as well).

Wasn't channeling the body a pretty popular thing back in the 60's?

That might be another "old skool" option.

The frames are similiar enough in the front suspension area that the crossmembers will bolt in. The 63-67 frames do not have the "flair" in it to accomodate a power steering gear box as power steering was not available. The exception being power "assist" steering.

The back half of the frame is where things are different. Let me see if I can remember the changes.

61-66 was trailing arm only, 67-72 was trailing arm "or" leaf spring which as mentioned, Chevy was standard coil optional leaf, and vice-versa on GMC.

Ok guys, how bad did I screw that up?

My 67 is coil, just thought they all were. Lots of interesting ideas to lower the truck. Channeling was something I considered, but I will already lose some headroom with the chop. I guess I will have to decide what makes the most sense.
My cab is off in the shop, and my frame is knee deep in poison ivy. Can someone tell me how much drop I need to get 6" clearance at the bottom of the rocker?Thanks.

This is an old wives tale from what I can tell. I have heard it many times but never seen any proof of it. Neither GMC's nor Chevys list either as an option on the SPID. I have seen plenty of Chevys with leafs and GMCs with coils. I think it "sounds logical" so people just roll with it.

60-66 could be had with coil or leaf. See above for GMC/Chevy Coil/Leaf

I heard way-back-when that the difference in the coil on GMC / leaf on Chevy was not an option but actually dictated by where the truck was assembled.

So neither are listed as options, yet we know both exist. The info I has suggests the following option for Chevy C10...

Sounds like the G50 leafs were a higher capacity option??? and was G50 and option for GMC?

Their is a guy on the board that worked for GM on our trucks in the engineer department. I'll try if I can find him. He works on the Volt now!

dunno on a '67, but Strodder on the 60-66 side is putting a 64-65-66 cab on a 80-something cab, he had to cut and channel the floor of the cab to get it to sit low enough to use the factory located mounts.
