Factory flaw...pic

Imagine opening the door on your new truck back in the day and seeing this...
Someone got a little carried away with the sealant. This is on my latest project.

That is defiantly a Friday truck, probably before a holiday, or the guy crapped himself while he was on the line.

That be the first truck of the day. The line pressure was to high on the sealent gun causing it to get the "runs"

The gas tank in my 4x4 has "John" written upside down on it in white grease pencil. I agree with chev-lo-ray assembly lines can be very boring. Worked in a factory one summer during college and it was great motivation to be sure to finish school

I built Fords from 1994-2006

You have NO IDEA the goofy stuff that goes on to keep everyone entertained, From sticking windshield washer jets in the drinking fountains to dropping truck bodies down the transfer elevators (the record when I left was 16..took maintenance 3 hours to cut them up and pull them out)...Most is harmless fun some is sabotage, but very interesting none the less.

never a dull moment in there, if I had anything to do with it.

Re: Factory flaw...pic

I parted out this 'Burb. If you look close you can see the riveter missed the lower right rivet on the front crossmember. IIRC, the rivet was through the frame but not the Xmember.

And if you look really really close, that 327 has 2 different heads on it! I knew the old farmer that I bought it from and he was the original owner and he said the engine had never been apart. And it ain't like someone threw a newer head on for the mounting holes-there's 40 years of crap in the holes.
