I just now stumbled across this while hunting around on the local Craig's List.

Amazing survivor...

Re: 66k original mile Jimmy on Craigs List

Big deal..... mine is a 61k mile original truck, back seat never sat in and top never off TOO! AND mine's a one owner truck! However, mine is from Chippewa Falls, WI and looks like this:

Name:  100_3093.jpg
Views: 301
Size:  56.9 KB

Seriously, though, that '72 is a great looking truck. I think I remember seeing it on ebay not long ago. I bet I'll have more money wrapped up in mine than he has in his!!

That looks nice. Why is the engine blue? Is that a GMC thing?

I was wondering about the blue engine also. And nope they are chevy orange in the Jimmy's also. Also don't remember that color green in the 72's. Looks more like an older restro to me, but could be wrong.

Not a 72 for sure. At least not the door panels of seat covers. That interior color was available in 72, but i have only seen it on very base trucks. The engine looks to have been replaced too. It has 69-70 seat covers.

Nice jimmy, but original 72 ?????? The console looks painted and the grain on the wood grain molding does not look like GM to me.

It`s a`69.Is that color metallic?I thought GMCs had blue engines.I also thought the CST package included bright mirrors.Looking at the right rear 1/4 view the paint doesn`t look original.

The engine has been replaced, and the paint does not look original at all, even in the pictures. Something fishy here.

Re: 66k original mile Jimmy on Craigs List

First thing is that I thought Jimmy's only came out starting in 70 (someone tell me if i'm wrong). The gas pedal is another clue that's it's NOT a 72. Definitely doesn't seem right. Something fishy is going on.

Re: 66k original mile Jimmy on Craigs List

Yes it appears it is a 70 due to the gas pedal, open knuckle front axle and 205 transfer case.
The engine being blue looks like a car lot detail, you can see blue overspray on the hoses and misc parts, it obviously has had some seat repair and they have been switched from left to right and have had the tracks painted, new carpets installed, both quarter panels appear to have some damage and or work done the rest looks to be original paint.

All in all to me it appears to be a clean solid Blazer.. Not quite "like new" due to some imperfections or a "survivor" (has had things replaced) as the seller states.

IMHO the only real negatives the will keep it from bringing good money: (I am sure I will get flamed for some of this) .......
(1) Its a 70 with Drum brakes, (2) Manual steering?? (3) Minor visible damage/repairs on quarter panels, (3) its a GMC... (they just do not command the same $$ as the CST Chevs) and lastly... (4) its green in an out (not as popular as other colors)

Definately no Jimmys in`69.This morning I thought the door panels were`69 and was being sarcastic.So,where`s the woodgrain and trim?

The listing is deleted. Hopefully someone got a good deal and a title that has the correct year on it.

Re: 66k original mile Jimmy on Craigs List

We've debated this thing before. Although it looks like it's in really good cond. by the pics, it is not as "original" as the seller would want us to believe. I would be leary of the "66k original miles" statement.

According to the SPID label shown in the pics:
K=4x4
E=V8 gas
1=1/2 ton
14=Utility Jimmy
S=St. Louis assembly plant
Z=1970 yr. of manufacture
71778=starting from 50001 it would be the 21,777 vehicle built that year
