Body shop quotes
I have a 67 chevy long bed that i am about ready to paint but would like to have painted. I have done the majoraty of the bodywork already but it will probobly need another coat of primer. what should it cost me to have some minimal bodywork finished, and some sealer and base coat, clear coat shot minus paint cost? Heres some pics just cause i know how we are on this site!

What are you looking for? A 20 footer? A nice daily driver? Cruiser with weekend shows? Trailer queen?
For a 20 footer I would say $1,000 - $2,000. For a dd I would guess $3,000 - $5,000. Cruiser with shows maybe $4,000 - 7,000. Trailer queen maybe $6,000 - 12,000.

Thanks for the resposes guys, i went to my local duraglow and he said around 3k-3200 and thats minus the body work.. looks like ive got alot more sanding to do

that's about right - the quotes I've gotten with just minor bodywork (a small dent in the left front fender) where 4-4500k for a base/clear job.

I got some quotes for mine in the 8 - 15k range.
Then I found a shop that is doing it for $6k and that is for the cruise in/show quality. Mine needed a little more body work though (not THAT much though), and all of the rust repair was done. |

You get what you pay for. On the other hand, a street rodder guy I know had a Ford Unibody that he prepped for paint then had MAACO to shoot. Seven years later, it was still looking like it just rolled out of the booth, and I don't mean the paint was still tacky and running off of the body. It was a slick paint job and looked like a high-dollar product.

The secret to a nice MAACO paint job is an extra $100 bill stuck in the hands of the guy that is shooting the paint ... NOT the guy up front filling out the bill.

Its all about the painter and his ability and some to do with the product he uses. But both can be argued for sure. Good luck and before i dropped that kinda dough i would want to see some of there work i mean custom work not insurance jobs.
