Can anyone tell me how to get the inside door latch and window handle off? I'm pretty handy but don't want to break it in the process of taking them off. Thanks...

There are little clips that hold them on. There's a tool you can buy to pop them off, or you could try a screwdriver.

x2...I never bought the tool, although I think it makes it easier to reinstall. I have always used a screwdriver, but be sure to shield the clip with your hand because they have a tendency to go flying. You should be able see the clip if you pull slightly against the handle or window crank. If you don't have the tool, you can make the reinstall easier by setting the horseshoe clip part-way over the base of the window crank or door handle, then slip it back on the crank assembly and push it on the rest of the way with your screwdriver. I hope this makes sense...

I've never bought the tool 'cause I'm a poor white boy from the ghetto. I've also fiddled for long periods of time with a screwdriver. The best, quickest and safest method I've found is to take a clean shop rag, pull it tight and slip it down between the handle and door panel. Hold one end and start wrapping the other clockwise around the latch or window regulator shaft. Once you get past 1/2 way around start pulling both ends in a clockwise direction. More often then not this will pop off those horseshoe clips 1st. try.

Also, the clip should be installed as in the top picture above. When you do install the clip, a pair of needle nose pliers works well.

I don't know if my truck is different but when you reinstall the handle and crank just fully install the clip on the back of the handle/crank and push it on to the post. the beveled end of the post lets it slide right on. BTW I have that removal tool and it works great and was only six bucks.

The tool for that is like $6 bucks at any autoparts store.

Can't afford not to have one.

No, yours is not different, that's the correct way to install. But, sometimes trying to get the clip into the slot is awkward and holding the clip with pliers makes it a lot easier.

I use a 1/8th welding rod that i hammered the flux off of and flattened the end.Then I put a very short bend in the end.Works well.
BTW You will need to go to the parts store and look in the "Help!" sectioon.They have a package of assorted "JESUS" clips for a couple bucks.I have yet to do this without loosing a clip.

I aways use a butter knife it's thin and easy to get behind the handle.

I used a small flat screwdriver that i bent so it would fit behind the handles.
