Question Bbc a/c ????

First, let me introduce myself and my truck. I joined this forum several years ago but had to get out of the game for a while. I just got a 70 SWB Project that the previous owner had begun a "restoration" on. He had redone the frame with all new suspension, brakes, etc., installed the motor (454) and trans (th400), placed the cab on the frame and began mounting all the accessories back onto the cab. The rest was in about 15 boxes. The truck has a 454 (from a '69 3/4 ton) with headers. I am currently trying to get the motor together. My currrent problem (I know there will be future problems) is I am not sure how the A/C compressor mounts. I was hoping someone might have some pics of how this mounts. It seems that it may be missing part of the bracketry. Thanks for any help.

Re: Bbc a/c ????

welcome back to the board.
can you post a photo of your engine so we can tell what we are dealing with?
We need to know if you have the later style water pump, or the correct 68 - 72, we need to know if you have 68 - 71 brackets, 72 brackets, 73 & up brackets.
Since these trucks never came with 454s till 73, it can't be original, and we need to see whats on the front of the engine.

Re: Bbc a/c ????

Thanks guys. I discovered after I posted this that you are correct about the year model on the engine. According to the casting numbers, it is a 75-87 model. I will take some pics of it tomorrow and post them. Once again thanks for the help.

Re: Bbc a/c ????

Here are some pics of the problem area. I marked the areas of concern. I believe the compressor is on there somewhat correctly (feel free to tell me if I am incorrect), but what, or where do the brackets on top mount to?
By the way, I appologize if I said something that offended anyone, I certainly did not intend to.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Bbc a/c ????

It looks like you are on the right track. i think you are missing a horse bracket on the intake. I will take a pic of my set-up tomorrow if noone has posted one by then.
On a side note, i don't think you offended anyone, i think he was just saying there are some pretty smart folks on here that know their stuff.
Looks like a nice project you have going there. eric

Re: Bbc a/c ????

You should have these nine brackets for the compressor unless the truck had a smop pump then the horseshoe bracket would be replaced by a funky looking bracket that held the pump too.

Re: Bbc a/c ????

Thanks for the pics. I am missing some parts. Does anyone have any solution to the bracket that attaches to the intake manifold, as mine is an aftermarket one it does not have the attachment points. I guess I may be looking for another compressor setup?
