rokcrwln has done a couple write ups on this.
http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...archid=1290429 He is extrordinarially talented at this stuff and fabrication in general.I think the post in the link shows some stuff on it.There is more and he may be able to direct you to it.You may also search the FAQ's (truck related) to find other threads on it.Member krue has done a great job of listing the FAQ's in an index(it's stickied at the top of the FAQ page).

Re: 1972 lwb to swb truck bed
Thanks for the info. I am happy to see someone out there can help out. I see the tape being placed at the 81.5 and 89.5 mark. Thats awesome. I just like to know from the front and take it from there. I will wait for that picture. Now is it better to cut it while the bed is fully assembled or taken apart? I say the way it is in picture. What was used to put it together? I know to a pro welder this is easy as walking the park. Anyone out there help out? Thanks

Re: 1972 lwb to swb truck bed
I am bad at taking all the pictures while doing the work... for that I opoligize!!
On the front I measured about 3 inches behind the stake pocket for the front cut then 12 inches back from that.. On the angled rear cut if you look at the bottom of the first picture on post #16 you can see where the angle cut was welded up. the cut was straight down from the top to approx one inch below the body line then angled forward at a 45 degree, it made the lower quarter bed taper much easier to line up. hope that helped a bit |
