Question about side mirrors

I ordered a mirror for the drivers side of my truck and when it arrived, the holes didn't match up at all. These look like the factory holes, there is a plate inside the door with nuts on it.

When I ordered the mirror, there was only one type available for that year (according to the catalog). Were there other styles available in 1970?

For the record, this is what the holes look like on the truck:

(sorry for the poor quality, its the best I have at the moment)

Looking at another catalog, it looks like the mirrors from a 67-69 fit these holes..

For a 1970 you should have "sport" mirrors. They were standard for 70-72. If you buy repro sport mirrors try and reuse the original backing plates and screws if you have them. They work better than the plates and screws that come with the mirrors.

Re: Question about side mirrors

The standard mirror for 67-70 were the same as what would fit those holes.what we call sport mirrors are the standard 71/72 mirror. What catalog did you use?

Re: Question about side mirrors

Thanks for the replies!

I ordered the mirror from LMC, and yeah, it looks like they sent the sport mirror.
Brothers also shows the sport mirror as original equip on the 70's and has the correct mirror listed as belonging to a 67-69

Re: Question about side mirrors

That's weird, LMC, Brothers and Classic Parts all show sport mirrors starting in 1970. Someone should set them straight.
