Look what tailgated me home !!!

To make a long story short..... This guy walks up to me at a gas station and tells me "nice truck" I tell him thanks and he asks if I need any parts for these old trucks. I told him I was looking for parts for my 68. He then proceeds to tell me he has a complete truck sans engine/tranny that he would like to get rid of right now. So I drive to his house a week later on my way to my 20 year class reunion and stop to take a look at it. Good a/c cab, which is the main thing I need, one good long bedside, good tailgate. I told him I would take it off his hands, I asked him how much he would take for it and he said "You can have it, just get it out of my yard" So he signed the title over, we loaded it up and that is that. Can ya'll believe the luck??? Just the tailgate, cab, and all the other straight parts are worth a grand at least.

Re: Look what tailgated me home !!!

I did not buy a lottery ticket, but I should have. Andy the truck is really rough on the drivers side. The guy's son avoided hitting a bull and smashed the whole drivers side in the crash. He did get a new drivers side door and front fender though.

I wish I had a trailer. Seems like many of these deals come to those who have the ability to haul/tow the deal away.

Thanks guys, I could not believe it when he told me "just get it out of my yard". I guess he was getting tired of working on it for his son. He told me that his son just expected him fix it!! My dad would have said get your ass out there and get busy. lol

Re: Look what tailgated me home !!!

My dad told me if I wanted a car when I was 16, I needed to build it myself. Took my aunt's beat up 71 Mustang when I was 12 and built it up so that it was ready by the time I was 16. Taught me a lot about hard work and responsibility.

Come on over, I know where there is about 6 more at least, just between my house and where my folks live in Brownwood (about 170 miles away). I just don't know if you'll get as good a deal though. lol
