Fence Project!
This has been my reason for not working on my truck.
Both my neighbor and myself with a crew of help have been putting about 700ft of hand built fence with six walk through gates and a driveway gate will be going in my place. ![]() This will be my driveway gate ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is my fire pit for burning leaves. All the pavers are for another project. I will make a brick surround for the pit along with a small patio so we can burn leaves in style. ![]() These next two pics are the neighbors back yard. ![]() ![]() Down the side of my garage, more room to hide truck parts. ![]() Next weekend the boards go up, gates get built, install hinge and latch hardware. I'll post the completed job next weekend. It's soo cool FINALLY getting this job done!! |

Re: Fence Project!
Looks like a lot of work. My fence is one of the few things I didn't do myself...mainly because I had a guy bid 400 over my Materials cost. So for 400 bucks I told him to have fun...Took three days and came out great. I just finished an 18X16 deck at my house...so I've been throwing some lumber as well

Re: Fence Project!
$400 over what you priced for materials only. What was he thinking. He must of had a killer hookup on materials.
Lucky you. ![]() |

![]() I had the same guy estimate my deck and he wanted 4400 for that...I did it for 2200 including paying a family member for his help to help him out.

Re: Fence Project!
wow, that's a lot of fence... I put up 600ft of split rail fence with wire mesh a few years ago... $2500 was my cost and the closest bid was double that price...

Re: Fence Project!
Can I make a suggestion. I noticed you only used 8' 2x4's as stringers. I've usually found you get extra strength by using 16's with them spaced so all 3 of the joints are never on the same post at the same time. This tends to help with sagging over time. Obviously it's too late to change that, but I would put a diagonal brace on at the corner posts, like so:

Re: Fence Project!
Here are the finished pics of the fortress.
![]() This is the driveway gate. I'm not happy the way it turned out, neither were the two guys that built them. They had a tough time with them, they're Very Heavy. We will tweak them in the future. ![]() Standing at Driveway gate looking at garage. ![]() Standing at walk through to back yard. ![]() Other side of house. ![]() Back yard pic. ![]() The reason for the fence. ![]() ![]() Aside from the driveway gates, it looks good. I'll water proof it in a couple weeks. I love it because now I have two separate fenced areas for the dogs to play, and to stay out of my way when I'm working on automotive stuff. ![]() Btw, The dogs have never been sooo quiet and this layed back. I love it more than I can express. ![]() That's all folks!! |

Re: Fence Project!
The fence doesnt look that bad. Maybe the posts are not perfectly plumb ?
Are those blue nose pit bulls ? If they are, they are good dogs because the blue nose pits I have had will kill each other even though they are brothers and sisters. They do relaxed though, they must like their new castle !
