Re: Fan clutch going bad who sells the best replacement

It's been a long time, but I have picked them up in junkyards. Look for a late-model full size GM car or truck with a thermostatic clutch unit. Be sure the bolt pattern, shaft length, and fan diameter are correct.

Price should be OK and quality is unbeatable.

find an ACDELCO supplier in your town. They sell the thermostatic type for our trucks. this type of fan clutch has a wound spring on the radiator side of the fan clutch. The thermocouple type ( I think ) are all junk. I just looked and saw where you tried Advance. Try them again, and find their commercial accounts parts guy. The guys on the retail counter are usually about a sharp as a marble. Advance in my area is starting to stock ACDELCO.

now it gets tough. IF you could get an ACDELCO catalog that has fan clutches in it, there will be a page that shows specifications. I think that there 2 bolt patterns where the fan clutch bolts to the water pump. maybe try and find a fan clutch with similar specs.
