Re: Equus fuel gauge..

I've been looking at them too and had the same question...

From what I've found researching it, the important stat to look for is:
"0 Ohms Empty / 90 Ohms Full"

I believe those are the resistances that all the factory senders used on any C10 truck from 73-87.

But hopefully someone more knowledgeable can confirm or correct this.

Re: Equus fuel gauge..

My honest opinion of the Equus stuff is its junk. I used to use them in my endro car. It got to the point I would run two water temp gauge because one would fail. I never had a problem with the oil pressure gauge though. I would have used something else, but they were under warranty.

Re: Equus fuel gauge..

I have never complained about them..

How do you hook the fuel lever gauge??

I took my cab apart today because im going to do a cage and i wont be using the stock gauges, only the fuel level worked, so i only need the speedometer and a fuel lever gauges, so i got no idea how the work, when i took the gauges ou i did not see anything hoked directly to the stock fuel level gauge i only saw a plug with lots of wires on it.

Re: Equus fuel gauge..

you'll need a sender wire that's come from the fuel sender in the tank to the gauge, a + switch wire and a ground

for the smaller gauges 2" work and for the speedometer and tachometer 3 3/8 since they only make a 5" tach so it would require a overlay panel and a little more info on the gauges

Re: Equus fuel gauge..

i bought several of them too! seems like the water temp doesnt always work. But the oil psi works great. Just bought the fuel gauge. Can you expand on the installation of the fuel gauge?

Re: Equus fuel gauge..

i have the black gauges for everything, they wrok perfectly fine, the temp never fails, its a little slow in coming up to operating temp, it will stay on 130 for 10 minutes or so and then all of sudden it will pop up to 190, but its accurate...i love em for the simple fact they are a hell of alot cheaper than any others and look great
