driveshaft help!!!
I converted my two wheel drive 84 half ton 6.2 diesel to a gas 305.I changed the trans to a turbo 400 the styel with the yoke that bolts in.Now my stock two pice driveshaft is to short and the one pice driveshaft i got today is to short.Are there any factory drivs shafts that would fit? Or do I have to git one of them lankthined ?

assuming the diesel motor bolts up to the same motor mount position as the 305, the 400 should end at the same point as it does with either motor. I know for a fact that a 2 piece driveshaft is used with the th400 trans but there are long and short tail transmissions within the th 400 style.. the long tail is about 9 inches and the short tail is like six... if you have the short tail it is not made for the pickup.. all the ones ive ever seen are longtail... therefore the driveshaft is too short because of the tail of the trans... If memory serves correct the short tail trans you bolt the driveshaft yoke to it and the long tail slips in like a regular driveshaft.... THAT may be your problem.. if you have a short tail you need a custom made driveshaft

I have a 2piece shaft that was a bolt in unit, but it was bolted to a 465 with virtually no tail, just the mount adapter plate. The yoke stays on the trans and the shaft fits into it and attaches like a rear U joint. Mabey this will work for ya. jim

1984 K20 350M engine with 465,000 miles. Well, it's finally done!! Almost 2 years of work, but it was really worth the effort. Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! stick the yoke in the tranny abot two inches and mesure center of the front to the center of the back. i hade the same problem i got a shaft out of a 94 halfton
