The state will direct you according to you zip code and model year. All states are different. Im a licensed advanced smog tech and there are ways to cheat but i wont mention them here for my jobs sake. I dont see the older models as a problem but the state does. We had a law that was 30 years and back no smog and our current governor changed it to 1975 and back. I have a 1975 truck and 71 chevelle so i lucked out. My 90 CRX has to be smogged.
Hey Karl, I grew up in G.T. My in-laws still live there. You from Colton too?!

I still live in GT next to Colton. It was 105f today. Was outside working. Thought i died and went to hell. Not much left to this heat thank God. Not a good time to be a mechanic. They closed about 40% of GM and Mopar dealerships and lots of good mechanics lost thier jobs. Unemployment is highest in Ca since the depression. Im out of work also. Where you at now?

Re: Smog Laws

I am about to go visit the local smog shop here. I hope it passes, just had a new cat and exhaust installed last time it ran through and it passed. Nothing has changed, except it sat for the last year and a half, but I have plans.

A lot of people were like that when our area first implemented the smog checks back in 91. All the sudden their vehicle no longer was legal even though they bought it that way and had been driving it that way for years.

I live in Riverside now, about 15 mins from G.T. I am a Colton native, going back 4 generations. How long have you lived here? It was super hot yesterday, supposed to cool off in the next few days though.
