Help with front cross sill
I accidentally ordered a 1947-50 front cross sill for the bed of my pickup, but have a 1953 pickup. Does anyone know what the difference will be with the 51-53 front cross sill. If it is only the location of the bolt holes I can manage. I live in Hawaii and shipping the part back is very expensive. Thank you

Re: Help with front cross sill
I think the holes won't line up where it mounts on the frame.
If you have the sills and the truck, you may want to check it out. When I did my 54 I got some used sills that didn't work. I just assumed that all 47-54 would use the same ones, but it didn't work out for me. So, you may want to check that out first.

Re: Help with front cross sill
The factory assembly manual will have the bolt/rivet dimensions. All I have is a TF manual. Maybe someone with a AD will look it up and post the difference.
This might help: http://www.gmcpauls.com/47-72_BedWood_Info.htm It has the spacing of the boards shown, which will show the difference in the locations. You could also match it up with one of the other cross sill to transfer the hole locations. Additional holes will not cause a problem the strength is in the vertical sides of the sill not the top.
