lmc ss brake line delima

i received my much anticipated ss brake line kit from lmc last thursday, i ordered the two piece front to rear set and the complete master cylinder and front line set basically everything except for the rear axle lines (should have ordered them also, but thats another story). anyway all was going well till i noticed that my new lines are made to go over the crossmember/under motor mounts to what supposed to be a tab on the front of the crossmember on each side (driver and pass) for the ss lines and the rubber lines going to the caliper to pass through. my tabs are on the rear of the crossmember, @#$%, i thought all 71 c10 brake lines were routed this way, to the front am i wrong? plus my line going to the rear seems a bit short it stops about 1' shy of the rear end in the frame? the only other thing is there is a very precisely bent ss line with a 90 degree bend and a 45 degree hook at the end, has anyone else encountered these problems. i need some good detailed picks of 71 lwb base lines and hoses if anyone has any, please help these lines are holding up the great progress ive been making from freshly painted frame to totally assembled frame in 1/2 a day now im stuck!

Re: lmc ss brake line delima

Can't really help you but I know exactly how you feel. I just ran new lines on my 4wd from inlinetube and they sent absolutely no instructions. I would suggest checking LMC's website as they have semi-detailed pics of 2wd trucks. Or maybe hit a local salvage yard?

Thats why we bend our own. I have not found any company that I would reccomend and it certainly would not be LMC. Inline Tube is going to be your best shot for SS. we sell Right Stuff for plain steel lines. As far as installation instructions are really not that needed. You just install them. I understand if you have never done them though.

I have never found any prebent kit that fits perfect no matter who makes it. If its modified at all the chances are even less. Heck your lucky if it fits perfect

The OEM steel kit I got from Inline tube fit perfect, once I figured out where they needed to be. I would reccomend them to anyone running new lines.

Re: lmc ss brake line delima

i really dont mind the modifying, just wondering more or less if i ordered the correct kit. if i could find the tabs to mount to the crossmember i could just tack weld them in place and be done with it.

Re: lmc ss brake line delima

sorry i had to cut myself short to get the baby, if i could get the tabs to go on the crossmember the front problem would be solved. pictures of the way the lines and caliper hoses are supposed to be run on an 71 c10 lwb would be more help than anything because , and yes, they were not done correctly by the previous owner(s) of the truck much like everything else. or even a diagram of the correct way.

They make a great product and one of the best in the industry. However I would not say there stuff fits perfect every time.

If you don't mind not stock you can always use the little Kugal clamps. Their is a real cheap source for them online. Exact same as the Kugal but a lot less expensive.
I am not sure exactly what the problem is. A pic would help

+1 - My SS kit from I.T. was an absolute nightmare......every piece was wrong...Bad bends & wrong fittings......many bends were not even close...I'll make my own next time!

Re: lmc ss brake line delima

Check for 73-87 brake lines. They should be longer.
