Re: OIL PAN GASKET In truck???

motor needs to b lifted a few inches to remone pan for gasket replacement// best to use the pricy rubber one piece gasket//while the pan is off check for damage to the bolt holes due to overtightening

Crap not what I as hoping to hear......looks like I may try to paste it up for another month then just pull it and do the pan, timing cover an rear main... guess I'll cam it to while it's out then I can repaint and clean up the engine bay...maybe find a new clip to hang on it??

also while youre at it you might as well convert to 5 lug, smooth the fire wall and while youre there, replace all those old cab and radiator support mounts smooth the cowl. . . . . it never ends once you pull the engine!!!!

Doesn't sound like too big of a production to me. Loosen the motor mounts from the towers, jack up the front of the motor, loosen the perimeter bolts, pull the pan, clean pan, clean block, check threads, reinstall gasket and pan, bolt the engine down, re-fill and check for leaks.

Re: OIL PAN GASKET In truck???

I figured if the pan as leaking I woud just pull it do it right and if a 500 caddy fell back in well then I guess I would just suffer with that..I have to re route myexhaust while I'm there anyway..... I just need to find where I left it (another motor)???...

I can't smooth the fire wall I'm trying to get my ac working and It would be alot harder when it's laying on the floor? but the cab and rad supports are done already so pulling the front clip should be easy....

like I said guess since I only have a month or 2 till snow I'll goop it with some formagasket and what ever blows out I'll chalk up to oil undercoating......
