bags or static? what would you do?
i almost have everything to bag the front of my 59 apache, i have mixed thoughts about it though. ive built many bagged trucks and have had many super low static drops. only reason i want to bag the truck is its easy to get on to my car hauler and if i have to crawl under the truck i can raise it up and it will be easier for jayme to drive it. i dont care about dragging or non of that stuff. i really like super low static drops, ive had plenty of them and i have it down to a science on how to make them ride good. the rear will be about 9in of drop.
im not worried about blowing bags, burning up compressors or sticking valves. i still have a set of firestone 2800 that are over 10years old lol and it will be a simple two valve, 5gal tank with a viair 380. and if your woundering the front clip under my 59 is from mid 80s c10. what would you do? |

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
Personally id go with the static drop, ive never had a bag setup but I like that there is nothin to worry about with a static drop just hop in and drive it no waiting on tanks to fill up or worrying about watter in the lines. But i do know its hard to put a low static droped vehicle on a trailer or get into steep driveways and such.

bag it and dont worry about it, put in some snubbers that will not let it bottom out if you blow a bag or something like that...

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
If you've got the items needed to bag, this should be a no brainer.
Bag that sucker!

Air allows easier access for the bottom side of the vehicle for repairs & maint. You have to be creative getting a floor-jack under a 'big' static dropped truck. Sometimes that's easy, sometimes not so easy....

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
haha yeap, i tore up a nice set of chisholm suspension lower control arms when i had a blow out, drug the bottom almost off. had to jack the rear of the truck up to get a jack under the frame rail then put a jack under the front cross member, and to make it worse it was a hot texas summer day on the side of I20.

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
def bag it...the hardest part is over (getting the parts!). i u sed to drive a 2000 s10 that was static dropped 5 in the front and 6 in the back. I loved that little truck but it was a pita to drive everywhere, I always told myself I should have just bagged it!

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
If you had never owned a bagged truck, I might say go static and be done.
Since you already know the advantages of adjustable suspension, it's just a matter of time. Bag it now, or bag it later, but you know your going to do it.

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
If its a play truck then bag the SHI outta it! On a DD i'd go static although I know people do drive bagged DD's...just not my preference, my 05 has a static 4/6.

Re: bags or static? what would you do?
If you lower it your going to want to go lower so just bag it and be done with it!!! Plus if you do right you will have no problems. My truck has been bagged for like 5 years and dd and has never had problem until the head gasket blew!!!
