Fuel cell in toolbox?
I have been wanting to remove the in-cab gas tank from my truck for more room for speakers. Today i bought a plastic Delta toolbox that mounts on the bed floor of my truck, and sits below the bedrails. There is more than enough room on the inside for a plastic 16-gallon fuel cell from Jeg's. My question is, would it be safe to mount the fuel cell in the plastic tool box? I could bolt the cell directly through the box into the bed if needed. I have some concern about vapors building up in the box, so would several 1" diameter vent holes placed around the box vent it out OK?
I really don't want to mess with a blazer tank, due to having to somehow make a filler neck without cutting a hole in my bed floor. Thanks for any help

Seeing that plastic gas cans should never be filled in a truck with a plastic bed liner due to static electric charge, I would say venting is the least of your problems.

I second that... good idea, but you would rather have a truck left after your first fill up

Wouldn't bolting the cell to the bed floor help ground out the charge? I don't want to blow it up either . Would a allumium or sheetmetal gas tank be OK to put in there?

I just bought the aluminum 16 gallon streetrod fuel cell from Summit to mount in my bed. It's vented, has an extended fuel neck and a 90 ohm sending unit in place. Plan on bolting/strapping it to the driver's side of the wood bed near the cab, mount a cool "aircraft-style" flip-top filler cap to the bedside, then run a marine-type filler hose to the cap. Won't be visible because of my bedcover. Should work great. SC
