Need a little help on a blazer....
I stopped and looked at a blazer today. It was 4x4, original black top unit with dealer installed cruise. There were a couple of things that were off ad I just want to check myself before I procede with an offer... 1) the truck had lower wood grain, and upper narrow trim like pickups - is this upper trim a add on? 2) the dash was woodgrained as a super and so was the glove box door which had a 72 super emblem on it. The Spid was in place on the door and the vin matched the jab and the frame. The spid calls for cheyenne equipment, but I thought on blazers that meant the CST emblems on doors and glove box door. It has dealer air, p/s and auto and somewhere along the line someone installed a 454 (guy said it was original) . Let me know what you think, and sorry no pictures. It used to be blue, but is now a black urethane of some form or fashion.

Re: Need a little help on a blazer....
sounds like you know more about supers than I, 71 super. You should tell us more about that "factory" 454. LOL

Re: Need a little help on a blazer....
Upper trim is added - not original. I've never seen a "super" emblem on a blazer. I have seen Cheyenne Equipment listed on the SPID, but I'm not sure if it is how they listed CST or if it is some other options. First Gen Blazers never came with big blocks. To install a big block, there was most likely some modifications done to the fire wall or the engine is sitting in the forward (2wd) mounting position, which would move the transmission and t-case forward as well, shortening the front driveline. I'd look very closely at that truck - it sounds like it has had some modifications in the past and the current owner doesn't know what has been done.

Re: Need a little help on a blazer....
You could only get blazers in cheapo form or CST(cheyenne in 71 and 72). The dash and woodgrain were more than likely added to give it some interior appeal.

Re: Need a little help on a blazer....
I think that I am going to walk. After talking to him again, he is second owner (???) and convinced the bb is original along with the other things I mentioned and he has a elevated sense of worth for it- he told me that it had been under water to the top of the handles this time around and wants $5500 plus for it. I will look else where.

Under water to the top of the door handles. Good idea to walk away. It sounds like it's going to be filled with problems.

Re: Need a little help on a blazer....
at least he told you - most people don't tell you until you already bought it and you find out later when you tear into it to do work on it...
