Whats the value of...
I know I will get yelled at for this, but I think I have a good find pretty close to my house. Only thing is, its a Ford.
This is a bit of a mystery but...when I was originally looking for a truck, I just wanted any old domestic 4x4. Chevy, GMC, Ford, IH, whatever, just needed to be stick shift and 4x4. Well, my dad found this truck...it is a mid 70's Ford F-250 4x4. It's not a 78-79, it's the style before that. The interesting thing about it is it only has about 6,000 miles on the odometer. It has been sitting in front of this house for a really long time. We stopped to ask the owners of the house about it, but I think the house is abandoned. However, the grass was freshly cut. The truck is sank to the rims in the ground. It is sitting under a big tree, and the drivers side of the cab is pretty moss-covered. However, you can see inside. The interior is immaculate, and not sunburned (cuz its under this huge tree). The seats, seatbelts, and carpet look untouched, nicer than my mom's 2001 Honda Civic seats. There are plastic bags on all the pedals. The shift pattern is easily readable on the knob (4 speed). There are pieces of paper that say "Ford" on the floor over the floormats. I think the dash says "Custom," not sure however. All thats wrong w/ the interior is the rearview fell on to the floor. We decided not to open the hood since we cannot find anyone at the house, but we did crawl underneath it. It has the 300 ci I6, I don't think any other sixes were available for Fords back then. Dana 44 front, Dana 60 rear...probably NP205 t-case. Underside of truck is clean enough to eat off of. Literally. Metal still looks metallic in front and rear fenderwells. Only rust is along the bottom of the tailgate is rotted thru. Tailgate works fine. Bed is full of water and dead leaves, and small plants grow in it. But, it holds water, so its not rusted thru. Its a bronze or copper color. Firestone mud tires...dry rotted and flat, but probably the originals. Ohio plates, last tagged in '91, which is kind of odd. I really believe this is a true 6,000 or so mile truck, from the looks of it. I have been trying off and on to get ahold of the owner of the house, I did a search in the library directory by address, and found the owner and a phone #. But the phone just rings, no one answers. Left a note on the house's front door with my name and number, no replies. There was also a FedEx pkg on the stoop, so someone else thinks he still lives there. I did an internet search for the owners name, and i found a local church website, of which he was a contributor to in Dec. of 2002 (last time I called, before I got the GMC). My question is, what do you think this truck is worth? If possible, I'd like to buy it and have it towed to my house on a flatbed, and fix it up. True, its a Ford, but when do you find something like this? Almost never in that good of shape, especially here in Ohio. And sorry for the long post. If its what you say keep the where abouts to yourself, sounds like a real diamond in the rough, I too like those fords, just keep trying, ask the nieghbors

Is it the 67 - 72 ford? I think that is the best looking ford ever built. I was actually looking for one of them when i got hooked on these trucks. Who woulda guessed?

We think that the owner of the house and truck resides nearby, perhaps even next door...my whole family is curious about why this truck has such low miles and was last registered in '91. We have several theories, such as original owner died, and perhaps a grieving widow held onto it to keep the memory alive of her husband (or son). But the property owner is a man...so maybe his brothers or his dads? Even if they wouldn't sell the truck, I'd like to hear the story.

Those are pretty decent trucks. I am not sure exactly when the quit, but the straight six probably is the 300 like you said, but it may also be a 223. My 60 F100 had one...Not sure what yeat thought they quit offering the 223 as the base engine.
My personnel views.. You want to pull...That 300 six is the way to go. You can pull whole 3rd world countries with it and not breath hard. Loads of low end torque.....heavy duty appitite for gas though. Good luck findng owner nd making the arrangements

One of our apprentices here has a 76 Ford F-100 4x4 with a 390 in it. It is one sweet mud toy. He has a 3" lift on it and is running 33's under.

have you tried to find out from anyone next to the house? like maybe a neighbor or so?

1969 GMC,
If you want more general information on this truck you might try Ford Trucks . I use them alot for my '56 F-100 project. They might also be able to help with an estimated value. I will warn you, they are true blue over there. No discussions of how to put a Chevy engine in a Ford Truck are allowed!! Kent

I wouldn't even mention having a GM truck to them, alot of the other brand boards are not very open minded.

Yeah, once I get some more time in my schedule (read: summer), I will start up the hunt again. I lost the phone # for the house, but I still have the owners name. I figure that the guy lives clsoe to the abandoned house, maybe even a neighbor to it. In response to some of the things said, if I did get the truck, I'd leave it 100% alone, except for necessary things...like tires and brake lines. I'd keep the 300 I6, I sure do like the EFI version in my dad's truck. What I'd probably do is restore it to stock, and then sell. Tired of this 2 jobs BS, if I sold that I would quit one of my jobs immediately and then sigh with relief.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!............MY EYES!!!!!!......just kidding, I believe that is a 77, I think that was the only year they put the square bezels around the round headlights...gearing up for the square headlights in 78 i think. As far as value goes, it depends on the area. I sold a 77 F-150 4x4 that was beat up pretty bad for $500. My cousin said if it sold in Ft. Collins, CO, it would have brought $1200-1500 easy.
