Saw this in a vendor's catalog. -
"1967-72 A/C Center Vent Upgrade"
Anybody know what it is and if it works?

It's the black plastic tube that goes directly behind the center dash vent - only it's been upgraded somehow.

According to the catalog it increases output from your center vent by up to 60%. Somthing about a new molded vent adaptor and a remote bypass.

I got the bypass plug kit from LMC that takes the center two hose vent and eliminates one hose. This is done via a couple of plugs one on the diverter box and another on the center vent ducting itself behind the dash.
Supposedly was an upgrade that was GM authorized.
I would like to see something that would upgrade the air flow like a faster fan or auxilliary ones in the ductwork.
Also the center vent could be motorized to move kind of like some that I have seen on the Mazda 626's that sweep from side to side.

A couple years ago I was upgrading my hoses on the 69 and looking at the LMC kit it had a couple plugs that fit into the 2 hoses that feed the center vent. The catalog said it helped inprove air flow to the 2 a/c ball vents on each side of the dash. It did this by reducing the air flow to the center vent. I think it was another $15 for the plug kit. I ended up byiny the hose kit from GMC Paul and made a couple of plugs from the necks of Gateraid bottles. They fit perfect and a small amount of RVT held them in place. They reduced the size of each hole/hose by ~20% (something like 1 1/2" down to 1 1/8" or so). Seemed to work out fine, just running the fan. The truck is still setting in the basement and the A/C needs rebuilt so I have not long term road tested it yet.

LSx 6.0 with BTR Stage IV, Speed Engineering Headers, 4L80e transmission w/3200 Circle-D Stall. 3.73. Posi. Purchased this truck when I was 17. I started the rebuild (or take apart) in 1993. I have drug it around all over the country in pieces. Finally back on the road in 2021. "I can't complain, but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far."
