Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
That is my question. I am installing the rubber mat now and it is NO FUN! Won't lay down, won't stay in place and I generally think it is going to look like crap when finally done. Thinking about scrapping the rubber and going with carpet. What are the problems with that? Is there any better that the others or should I stay the course and it will all come out alright with the rubber? I am real frustrated! And hacked! And tired! You get the picture. I need to hear from you guys who have done one or both items in the past. Thanks!

Re: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
I bought these carpet floor mats from a local Biglots store don't know the brand for $10.00. The nice thing about them is they have a round clip in the corners that have hooks that go into the carpet so the mats don't slide around. The best $10.00 investment I have bought in a long time. I went back and got some for my other cars.

Give us an idea as to why you decided to go rubber in the first place. For the look? For the easy clean up...? Carpet offers better sound & heat control than rubber. Problem with carpet is that it won't last, with our trucks being able to run topless, it gets direct sun & weather. I've gone with what I hope to be the best of both worlds, easy cleaning as well as sound & heat control. Going to just run floor matts under foot, no carpet. May not be an option for you at this point, nor what your looking for though. |

That really looks good. I was going with that because that was what it was originally, however there is no direct replacement of the mats. I think after stewing I am going to go carpet.

Re: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
I've got wall-to-wall carpet and looks pretty good, but the tops leak and I think I want to switch to rubber mat. Where did you get the mat? I'm planning on buying a set, but I'd really like to find a quality item.

In your search for carpet, if possible...find something with UV protection or it will fade quickly to that gross brown color. |

Re: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
I am going with carpet when I re-do mine. Not planning on getting it very dirty though. I had an '02 F-150 with a rubber floor, and while it cleaned up okay it never looked "nice" after the newness wore off. If you want to keep carpet nice you get good mats and replace them every once in a while.

Re: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
If you have the correct mat for the truck, it should be easy to install. Try warming it up with a space heater in the cab for a short time. The rubber should be molded to cover the hump and follow the contours of the floor.
I bought some stainless self tapping sheet metal screws with finish washers to fasten the mat to the fire wall. New metal thresholds also made a big difference. In my opinion, rubber mat is far superior to carpet if you intend on using your truck as a truck.

Re: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
My CST still has it's original carpet, although not faded it is worn. I did buy a new carpet kit for it and plan to keep it that way. I just prefer the carpet for a much nicer look. Not hard to keep nice with good floor mats.
Mine is more of a driver than a hauler. If I have any intentions of truck duties I have a pickup truck for that |

I guess some of us don't use our blazers as trucks. When I feel the need that's what I have a 1 ton pickup for

Already took it up and packed back in the box. I was so disappointed in it. I got it from Classic Industries.

Re: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?
If you have any sunny days in the forecast you might want to set it out side and let the sun soften it up. If you can roll your blazer out side and have the mat siting where you want it and it should take form to your floor.
