Stainless steel Gas cap was on my auxiliary tank that I took off my truck when I had it restored and it does fit my '72 perfectly.I also have the auxiliary tank that mounts under the bed in front of the rr wheel(no shipping on tank) and mounting bolts with the tank. I have pics if interested.
1.Tank and bolts-$50 No shipping
2. Gas Cap $100

You say rr for location of aux fuel tank...? Most aux tanks were on lr of truck in front wheel if it was a dealer installed?

If it is on the lr was the fuel fill on behind a aftermarket door or located just behind cab with hole cut in bed?

I just looked at some pics of my truck before restoration and it was on the passenger side in front of the rear wheel and the filler neck is under the wheel well and it was bolted to the bed with a couple of long bolts. All i know is this was my granparents truck which they bought new in 72'and it had the extra tank on it when they bought it with the camper.
