Hinge Pillar Padding option? (BE2) ???

Does anyone have a truck equipped with factory hinge pillar padding? I was going through my 1968 Chevrolet Truck preliminary data book and found hinge pillar padding as an option, listed under the alphanumeric code BE2. That option is listed for C/K10-30 trucks. Also, under the C/K10-20 Suburban and Panels, there's a Seat back upper padding (06 & 16 models only) listed under the alphanumeric code B59.

I can't recall seeing these options, does anyone have pics? Perhaps I've seen them and just haven't noticed, but they sure caught me off guard while looking through this book.

Thanks for any info.

I hate ttt threads. But here's one anyway. There has to be someone out there who knows something about this option.

Re: Hinge Pillar Padding option? (BE2) ???

I have nothing on it in my '69 Truck Data Book. I checked El Caminos, too.....nothing with a BE2 code. If your book is a preliminary, is it therefore "pre-production"? Do you think it was an idea based on the preliminary safety considerations that GM thought they might have to do to be in compliance with any new federally mandated safety requirements? Seems my memory contains a couple of wrinkles about safety being a big issue for the '68's. The side reflectors on these trucks weren't lighted until '71, right? 3-pt seat belts weren't standard until '73, but the bosses were there for them. It may well be that the dash pad (crash pad for us older folks) was all the government required when all was said and done and the pillar padding was not mandated.

Sure wouldn't want to slammed into the post, padded or not.
