And another one. The 2 8" subs are facing out toward the seats. I have them right in between the 2 seats, back to back. The sub amp is under the cup holders. Theres a seperate tweeter mounted above the midrange on the side of the console, behind the chrome tach hanging from the bottom of the dash in the 1st pic. If you can see it. The 4 speaks in the console run off the deck power, 200w 50x4.

Thanks! I bought them from Scotts62, he had them in a '94 chevy he picked up for parts. I have no idea what they came out of originally.

Components in the door panels and a 10" sub under the seat...

...the subwoofer enclosure shown is long gone, but you can see the components

Highperf4x4- the pics were taken within a few months of each other, thus the progress was made with the door panels and floormats and airride pressure display. And the seats are from an 02 Chevy Tahoe, same as Cadillac and truck, too.

Re: Where do you guys mount speakers? Pictures please

I have satellite radio also, and so I didnt have to cut up anything, I bought the boom box for the radio I sit in the passenger side of the seat and sit the antenna up on the dash. The boombox has pretty good sound and when I get where Im going I just throw the thing behind the seat. Its a little bit of a hassle, but I got used to it and if I have someone riding with me I just sit it on the floor. If you have bucket seats you could just sit it between the seats Some times the antenna slides off the dash but only if I make a hard turn. The antenna also works about as good as mounting the magnetic one they give you for your roof. Hope that helps!

Re: Where do you guys mount speakers? Pictures please

and now for the rat style approach...
(2) 4x6 JBL coax speakers in the center of the dash where the stock speaker was located. Those are powered from the amp in the head unit (Currently a lame-o Custom Autosound- but it at least works lame-o).

Then whatever hasn't blown from wherever behind the seat.

Currently the passenger side has a 8 inch refugee from an old JBL PA speaker.
The driver side has an old 6 1/4 coax speaker from I can't remember what car it was from (That is the one covered in black cloth from some old pants). For added high frequency responce I added a dome tweeter and crossover from an old stereo speaker (now located on the floor). These are powered with a 75 w/channel amp.

No cutting was preformed in the multilation of my truck audio.

Re: Where do you guys mount speakers? Pictures please

Hey guys,
Thanks for "most" of the suggestions.
I ended up making a couple of plates that mount a couple of 6 X 9's under the dash and out of the way. the right one is mounted on a solid plate that is screwed to the bottem lip of the dash under the glove box. The other end has a bend in it the mates up the toe board right as it makes the bend up to the firewall. For the Left speaker, I built a heavier gage bracket that mounts between the emergency brake release that the column. It is stiff enoguh to only mount up one end of the speaker. That speaker is also facing down and located between the dash and the fuse panel. It was a tighter fit.
I know, it's probably not the best sounding system in the world, but it's something to listen to.
My goal was to get it in there without making it look like everything else did when I got the truck. If I get a chence, I'll post up some pics.
Thanks,
Brent

the regular ones sound like crap. Go with the more expensive one. The better speaker is one large speaker with 2 voice coils (left and right) on top. Because of the location, this speaker added more to the system than the 2 6 x 9's in the doors.

I think my PO used a chainsaw to cut out for the 6x9's in the door

Re: Where do you guys mount speakers? Pictures please

...and you think that the stereo is rat style now...sorry I don't have pictures of when I first bought the truck. The "stereo speakers" consisted of a 6x9 speaker laying on the floor on the passenger side and a thin 5 1/4 sandwiched between the gun rack and the rear window.

Can you still get those plastic headliners from JC Whitney that had the overhead consol and speakers built in?

I bought a $20 pioneer off of the board and a $20 dual speaker box at Wally world and threw it behind the seat. The sound isn't great, but you can't really hear much over the supercharger anyway, .
