Well guys, I started the engine swap last night. Pulling out the old 4.3 and replacing it with the 350 Goodwrench motor. I hope everything goes ok. Should be ready to put it in on Friday afternoon. I have a LOT of cleaning to do once th 4.3 is out. HAd an oil leak some where and well ya'll know. That along with 17 years of road grime, should be fun. I will not be able to post pics until next week, but I will get some up of the finished product.

Enjoy! Have some 40 grit and Scotch Brite pads and the cleaning will be a breeze! Doesn't hurt to have an Anal Andy around either.

Definitely a required person to have around. Otherwise the motivation isn't always there.

You think 17 years worth of gunk was fun to clean? Try 35! The swap in my '68 required four cans of oven cleaner a 50 pack of scotch pads, and $15 worth of quarters at the car wash.

I used both.

When we moved into our house, just over a year ago, the PO left a case of oven cleaner, two cans of degreaser, and four cases of Boraxo in the garage.

I was at a loss about what to do with the oven cleaner (we have a self cleaning oven) and my father-in-law suggested using it as a cleaner for metal parts. Works really well. Also cleans oil stains from cement.

Well, hit my first snag. Got the 4.3 pulled and the motor mount towers that bolt to the frame are not the same for a V-8. All the local dealers do not stock them and bone yards aren't sure. They told me that I would have to come and look. Found one set but the motor is still in the truck and I would have to pull it. Anyway, got online and went to a great new site, www.chevyparts.com . Typed in the part # I got from a local dealer and found the mounts in Las Vegas. Needless to say I should have my parts tomorrow. $40 parts and $50 shipping. Now, I'll see what is in store for tomorrow. Later.

Hmmm . . . This sounds all too familiar. I know what you mean! I can't park in people's driveways or they might get upset about the new back blotch that came from under my truck.

Jeremy,

It's not the mount with the rubber in it, I got those from Auto Zone. It's the metal bracket that bolts to the frame and the cross member. The $50 for shipping was for Next Day Air Saturday Delivery from Las Vegas to Baton Rouge. I don't think it is too bad>

Well, got the motor in. Bolted in very nice, dropped right in. Now tomorrow I'll try to get everything finished up. Any suggestions on how to mount the PS pump with the headers and AC bracket. Looks difficult. Total Knuckles busted 5, and still not done.

Well, the project is finished!!! Fired up on first try. Runs real smooth. Need to work the bugs out in my fans. I will post some pics later on this week. Boy, that S@#t wore me out. Talk to ya'll later.
