Fuel rail for Double Pumper leaking

Just got the new motor in the truck, and decided to put the new Holley in too. I went and bought one of those 1 piece fuel lines that runs to each bowl. The first one I bought leaked, at the time I thought it was chrome in the flare. Swapped it out with a new one......and still leaking. After getting a closer look, and pulling on it. It looks like it's not sitting quite square. I am thinking of cutting it with a tubing cutter, and putting a piece of rubber line in the middle. This will allow me to tighten each one individually, and should make it so they both sit better on the seat. But it will look kind of ghetto. Anyone had this problem before? Can I get away with a little tweaking and bending?

I just went through the same thing. I finally decided it was going to quit leaking or I was going to strip out the threads, which ever came first. I just kept tightening it until it finally quit leaking.

Re: Fuel rail for Double Pumper leaking

Had the same issue with mine - twice -- returned it to Jegs both times - turns out these get returned very often - they just do not work well
buy a fuel log or a good braided line and they will not leak

Take the line off and put your wrench on the nut that is leaking and bend it in the direction you need. If it still leaks buy a fuel log or braided line.

Re: Fuel rail for Double Pumper leaking

Yeah I was thinking about bending it. I will mess with it after work if I am up for it. Putting one of our cats down tomorrow......so the truck will have to wait a day or so.

Re: Fuel rail for Double Pumper leaking

The Jegs setup is junk. I screwed around with it for an hour or two and never got it to seal. I went to napa and bought a short piece of 3/8 brake line flared at both ends. I cut it up and replaced the two ends going to the carb on the jegs piece and it's worked great and you can't really see the splice under the air cleaner.

Actually, I think you can classify them as dangerous junk. Nothing like having gas leaking under pressure.

And over a hot engine.

I don't think its the crappy flare that is the leak, I think its the fact that it doesn't sit straight. I will try bending it a bit. But I can see me cutting it into 2 pieces. So I can hook up each one independently. I am going to try and find some kind of steel braid with compression fittings on each end. Cut out a section of it and put in the braided line.

Re: Fuel rail for Double Pumper leaking

You can get Russell Fuel AN adapters to go into the Holley then make your own lines with a T. I actually put the Holley Fuel regulate right beside the carb and ran my lines. I can post a pic later if you want...

I put some gear marking compound on the flare and reinstalled and sure enough only part of the flare was seating. I chalked it up to a poor flare job plus chroming over it.

Now that I think about it I did add a rubber fuel line splice to both ends thinking it was the alignment too with no luck. That when I used the marking compound.
