71 c30 front diff.

Hey guys.
I have a question for someone who might be in the know. I am going to be back in the saddle on my C30 build and have always thought about converting it to a 4wd. The thing is I think the original 19.5" steels look awesome on the thing. I am going to get some center caps and beauty rings for them.
So I would like to keep the original 10 bolt pattern on the truck. I already have a Dana 80 with a locker for the rear but don't know what to use for the front.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Re: 71 c30 front diff.

you can get a drw d60 and some adapters,

you can buy this axle and setup your tcase on the dside.

you can get a d44 or 10b and get the drw spacers from a 94+ dodge drw + 10lug adapters.

Re: 71 c30 front diff.

Thanks guys. The other thing I remember is that there was a 10 lug Dana 70 in the 3500 conversions out there, until 99 I believe. I know they didn't even come close to turning on a dime and parts wore out pretty quick. The ones I had experience on were tow trucks.

Re: 71 c30 front diff.

Richard, the 10 lug dana 70's use mostly d60 outers, with the exception of the spacer to adapt the 8 lug pattern to the 10. there were older ford F-super duties that had 10 lug frontends too, they were either d70's, carrera units, and maybe some marmon herrington axles.

probably the most cost effective way would be to locate some of the 8 to 10 adapters, or find a P30 van being parted out, and take the 14 bolt rear and the 19.5 8 lug wheels from it.
