Eaton rearend
Does anybody out there make a cool looking diff cover for the Eaton rear end in my 1970 3/4 ton c20??

I doubt it. This is one differential that is not supported by the aftermarket. You can get some replacement bearings, but that's about it.
It's a great rear and I like mine, but it's tough to get parts for.

Speaking of Eatons... a tidbit of info that might help someone.
Mine started growling -- not bad, barely enough to hear -- when coasting downhill. The pocket bearing (on the pinion) was slightly pitted. A new one from NAPA fixed it. That was several years ago, and it's still quiet.

I got an Eaton in my 72 Cheyenne Super 3/4 ton 4x4 and have been wondering if there was a rhyme or reason as to getting the eaton or a dana,and which is better.

the eaton is stronger by far.
big block 3/4 tons automaticly got the dana. many GMC trucks got it For the best part, most of the rest got the eaton. |
