Did I steal this 71 C-10
I picked up this 71 C-10 for $250 on Craigslist. He had a make an offer listing and I threw out $250 and he got back with me two days later. I think he was offered more but I was the first to respond ( ). This is a 2 owner truck. Only rust is cab corners and rockers. Everything including bed and pillars is solid as a rock. It has brand new dual exhaust, alternator, tires. I couldn't believe it. The engine needs work but it is a 4 bolt 350 and 3 OTT with AC. No PS or PB though.
EDIT: I also picked up a 69 SWB for $500, see below.

Re: Did I steal this 71 C-10
for that kind of money, you have some left over to do a resto.....its good material for that if all it needs is cab corners and rockers anyway......a body off job is the way to go with these trucks anyway.

I would think so but he didn't say what it had cost him. The PO has had it for 20 years and drove it until the engine layed down on him a couple of months back. He started to fix it up and thought about putting a crate engine in it but decided not to for some reason. Thanks for the remarks everyone. I will definitely keep the board in the loop on my progress.

Re: Did I steal this 71 C-10
THE PLOT THICKENS,
I picked up a SWB 69 from my buddy for $500. It has been sitting for a while but it has a nasty small block in it. What to do? I'll post it up when I get some pics. I think I have a problem, but as long as I don't admit it, I should be fine right?

I have made progress though. I listed my 91 for part out and a complete front clip on CL. That is a start in the right direction anyway.

you bought it so cheap you should become a site supporter $25... the info and entertainment here is worth the price you paid for that ride.

Re: Did I steal this 71 C-10
Alright folks, I got the 69 home today. The bed floor is shot, the rest of the bed panels are really good. The drip rail and the rockers are rotten. But at $500 with a $3500 build 350 with less than 10K miles I couldn't pass it up. Now I have a dilemma. This is a non AC truck but has PB & PS, also 71 disks and 5 lugs (6 lug in rear). The blue 71 is original to the day it was bought except for headers and dual exhaust. It is an Ac cab but no PB or PS. I hate to think about taking that cab and putting on the shorty and messing it up. I guess I have some thinking to do. If I could find a good cab for the 69 I would rather do that. Any ideas otherwise? Besides getting rid of those monster tires on the front.

Re: Did I steal this 71 C-10
i'll make things easier for ya just give me both and don't think about it any longer.
if it was me i would keep the 71 original and trick out the shorty and then you have one for show and one for work! that is my 2 cents.... David |

Now I need to get a video of this 69 ripping it up after I got it running this weekend. It is scary fast. With 50 series M/T Sportsmans I can't get it to hook up at all. I burned through 2nd, 3rd, and part of of 4th on the SM420. It has a Holley 750 on it and some serious cam. My buddy was crazy for letting this truck sit. But life does that to us. I have four Original Broncos rusting away in the back right now and I have been called crazy for that. Thanks for the replies, now I need to get the 71 going and back on the road. DD shoptruck beater?
