Will not start, any suggestions?
My son has a '67 with a 350. Yesterday it quit while driving. The problem was located (or so we thought) in a broken wire. This wire is the small wire that goes from the battery terminal to the alternator. Now it cranks but will not start. It's getting gas. Also the radio and electric fan have quit working. What am I overlooking. The fuses are OK.

are you getting spark, this has happened to me while driving twice. the first time it was the ign. module, and the second time it was the coil. if you are getting spark then you might want to have another beer and wait ten minutes and try starting it again. sometimes that will work for me.

sounds like the ignition switch might also be a possible cause.

Look around the radiator support, there may be a wire sticking out somewhere, this wire should go to the + side of the battery instead of going to the alternator. I think the one you found is the wire that supplies power to your accessories.

I think O'l Buck is on the right track... there is no wire that goes directly from the bat to the alt. It should go from bat term to junction block on inside right fender...from there it will go out as two wires.. one to the alt, and one to power the fuse panel acc. Like others have said, check for spark first...no spark, no power to ignition circuit. Also, some models had a fusable link in the wires at the starter solenoid that would short out for no apparent reason. That will also eliminate power at the ignition circuit. Look at the small wires on the solenoid for black..burned links, and repair as necc. Hope this helps, if not...call back.
