ignition system

i am assuming my ignition system is still stock... what all do i need to make it a better than stock system new plugs, wires, cap and rotor? i dont know if its points either..

If it's stock, it has points. The first thing I'd do is get rid of the points and install a Pertronix kit. They're bullet proof and easy to install. The link below may or may not be the exact one, but gets you close:

They're available from many sources including Summit and Jegs. After that, as you've suggested, new plugs, wires, rotor and cap and you'll be set for many trouble free miles.

I would also upgrade to a hotter coil as well.

Another option would be switching to a HEI distributor from a newer 250 6 cyl.
