Once you figure it all out as to how it's supposed to bolt up be sure to replace the part you heated up. That is NOT GOOD! And make sure and have your alignment checked by a good front end mechanic when it's all said and done. There's no telling what else the previous owners did to that front end!

I actually have a 72 short fleetside (without motor) that I've had sitting out back for over 10 years. Checked it out and Lolife99 is right... that center arm is flipped along with the tierods. Amazing that it all fit backwards like that. Hopefully that's part of my "crabbing issue" where the outside tire turns in more than the inside one (only noticable when making sharp turns).

Guess it's really a good thing that the tie rod broke (and nothing was damaged). That and the knowledgable guys on this site

Hopefully have it all correctly done this week (with new straight tie-rod).

Hey Mondo,... I would look close at the center link also.
It's had a bunch of stress on it, over the years.
You might want to swap it out also if you can find another one.

If it was me,... I would replace the centerlink and both inner tie rods.

Well got it all sorted... man what a difference! No more rubbing or crabbing (one wheel turning sharper than the other the more its turned). I can make a U turn now and maybe even go thru a drive-thru

I guess this could of been an easy mistake to do (putting center link upside down & backwards) when putting the frame off restoration back together, especially if it was a while since it was last together. So if anyone ever has the problem of crabbing, check how the tie-rods bolt to the middle bar.
